MATERIALS
Carbon fiber is used in everything from the construction of the monocoques and frames of the racing machines that tear across the F1 track, to aircraft and high-class sports cars alike. Its overwhelming strength and lightness grant it 10 times the strength of iron at a mere 1/4 of the weight, yet the high cost and difficulty of production can be a hurdle. But with the ST-R, we've spared no expense: with primary components all constructed of carbon fiber ? including frame, front fork, rims, handlebar, and seat post ? this is, without a doubt, the definitive racing model.

F1をはじめとするレーシングマシンのモノコックやボディはもちろん、航空機や高級スポーツカーのボディにも使用されるカーボンファイバー。圧倒的に「軽くて強く」その強度は鉄の10倍、比重は1/4しかありません。短所は、製造コストの高さと加工の難しさ。ST-Rはフレーム、フロントフォーク、リム、ハンドルバー、シートポストと主要パーツがすべてカーボン製。コストを度外視した究極のレーシングモデルです。

The ST-R is equipped with a strategically placed carbon handlebar, outfitted with an aluminum stem and Cane Creek's famous AER headset ? often heralded as the world's lightest ? to help racers maintain the ideal front-leaning position for race day excellence.

Its carbon-rimmed wheels are installed right into the frame using a thru-axle setup to help preserve form and strength. Equipped with aluminum hub cartridge bearings.
